Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Cupcakin' Bake Shop (“Cupcakin',” “we,” “us”) does with the information you give us through this website — in particular, the details you submit when you join the waitlist for The Omakase Experience.

We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we'll explain it properly.

1. Information we collect

When you join the waitlist, we ask for:

If you're later invited to a seating, we may also ask about dietary requirements, allergies or access needs. You choose whether to share those, and we use them only to look after you on the night.

Information collected automatically

Alongside your sign-up we record a small amount of technical context:

We use this to spot spam submissions and to understand which channels bring people to the waitlist. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

What we don't collect

We do not ask for, and this site does not process, payment card details, government identification numbers, or any special-category information such as health, religious or biometric data. Dietary information you volunteer after an invitation is treated as confidential and used only for catering.

2. How we use your information

We use what you give us to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We don't share it with third parties for their own marketing.

3. Text messages

Ticking the SMS box on the waitlist form is optional, and separate from joining the waitlist itself — you'll be on the list either way, and you'll still receive your invitation by email.

If you do opt in, we may text you about seatings, invitations and last-minute changes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not remove you from the waitlist.

4. Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers who help us run the waitlist, and only so they can do that job:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, if we need to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our guests, our team or the public. If the business is ever sold or reorganised, waitlist information may transfer as part of that — and this policy would continue to apply to it.

5. Where it's stored, and for how long

Waitlist entries are held in a private Google Sheet accessible only to the small number of people running the Omakase Experience. Information is processed and stored in the United States.

We keep your details for as long as you're on the waitlist, and for up to 24 months after the last seating you were invited to — so that we can offer you a seat at the next one. After that we delete or anonymise them. You can ask us to remove you sooner at any time, and we will.

6. Your choices

Write to us at the address in section 11. We'll respond within 30 days, and we won't treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

7. State privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights — including the right to know what personal information we collect and why, the right to request deletion or correction, the right to a portable copy, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may exercise these rights by contacting us as described below.

For clarity: we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may use an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf; we may need to verify the request with you before acting on it.

8. Cookies and tracking

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It stores one small item in your browser's local storage after you join the waitlist, purely so the form doesn't ask you to sign up twice. Clearing your browser data removes it.

We load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when the page loads. Google may log the IP address of that request. If you'd rather avoid it, most browsers and privacy extensions can block third-party font requests.

9. Security

We use access controls and reputable providers to protect your information, and we limit who on our team can see the waitlist. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security — but if a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10. Children

This site and the Omakase Experience are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.
